The Theme of the 2018 Youth Sailing World Championship is SUSTAINABILITY and OCEAN CONSERVATION. This Championship is the first World Sailing event to include an environmental focus in a World Championship, in collaboration with Official Sustainability Partner 11th Hour Racing. We are excited to use this event as a model not only for future World Sailing Regattas, but also for future Corpus Christi citywide events and throughout the Texas Youth Sailing Regatta circuit. By running a clean regatta and actively incorporating education pieces into regatta activities, we hope to instill a passion for protecting our oceans and raise awareness of the importance of sustainable practices in our daily lives.
To fulfill our mission, the Host Committee designated a "Green Team" for the championship and partnered with 11th Hour Racing, an organization that works with the sailing community and maritime industries to advance solutions and practices that protect and restore the health of our oceans.
The Green Team goals are:
A strong participation, collaboration and partnership between all those involved in the event - such as competitors, team leaders, coaches, volunteers and other stakeholders - will ensure that we accomplish the above goals.
We kindly ask you to follow the simple guidelines outlined below:
If you have any questions about the above guidelines, please contact us directly. We appreciate everyone abiding by the Clean Regatta Policies.
We look forward to wonderful sailing in Corpus Christi and spreading the message of ocean conservation to the next generation of sailors around the world.
Thank you and remember to bring your re-usable water bottle!
